Notes for ELIZABETH CROUSERX:
Is this Elizabeth the Elizabeth McLain age 35 living with Jacob Crouser in 1850 with her 3 children William 14, Jacob 10 and John 9. But where is Sarah? This John McLain appears again as a laborer in 1860 with and as a Corp with Eli Crouser in the Army in 1863 - I think John named his son Eli after Eli Crouser. In the 1870 census - it looks as though Eli Crouser and his sister might be living with John and his wife and son Eli.
From riverview burials - close to but not with the Crousers - John -85 in 1927 would make him born about 1842
Eli born abt 1868 another son James I born about 1871 according to 1880 census.

[From Aunt Anna's notes - Anna Landback Zerbe - Simon Dunkelberger married Julia Annn Crouser 3/10/1861 and went to housekeeping in half of house where uncle Henry Crouser lived. Grandfather owned his side and Uncle Hen owned his side. Grandfather as a young man took his $500 (inherited from his father) and bought a canal boat. Prior to owning a boat he worked for William Elliot who owned many boats. ( In 1867 - he bought the land for $300 from William Wilson - lots # 269,270,271 & 272.) In 1869, Grandfather built this house (384 Orange ST, Northumberland, Pa) and lived here 3 or 4 years and then moved to a farm on the Miltonoad - about opposite the Landback farm. The next year , moved to a farm back of Montandon, not so far from the 8 cornered school house and lived there 7 years. Then they moved to Landback farm below Winfield and lived there 16 years. In 1897, moved back to 384 Orange St, North'd. In 1898 grandfather had an accident causing paralysis and was crippled 25 1/2 years. In 1902 grandmother died. Isaac died 1901.

Notes for CLORINDA AMELIA CASE:
Children of SAMUEL CROUSER and CLORINDA CASE are:
i. JOHN WESLEY5 CROUSER, b. February 1874; m. JENNIE EDWARDS, November 11, 1896, Luzerne Co, Pa; b. February 1874.
Notes for JOHN WESLEY CROUSER:
Story is that he was quite wealthy. His sisters were not. Emma was
pregnant at the same time her sister Lorena's daughter Flossie was
pregnany. Both ladies wanted to name their children John if a boy in
the hopes that J.W. Crouser would leave his money to them. Emma gave
birth to my grandfather and sent her sister to register his birth (at
the candy store I believe:-) and Lorena gave his name as George Henry
instead of John Wesley. Never told her. Flossie gave birth, had a
boy and named him John Floyd (you can add this to the info I sent if
you want since the names are new - Flossie married last name was
Cooper). Emma had a boy after my grandfather and named him George
Henry (he was a premie and died as an infant) so it gets a little
sticky. My grandfather didn't find out until he went to get a
passport and they said he was never born but a George Henry Jayne was
born to his parents on the same day!!! It was unraveled from there.
He legally changed his name to John Wesley Jayne after that.
Have a pic somewhere that my Aunt Lorena (daughter of Emma Crouser
Jayne) told me was John wesley Crouser's giant car. He would visit
them. In the end he died first and left all his money to his wife
Jennie. When she died she left it to her family. My Aunt Lorena
never had kids but b/c of this made sure she left money etc to her
husband's family as well as her own in her will (he died first).
Anyway.. sorry that was so long but I called my mom to get this
info. She also told me there was a family Bible that Flossie had.
Flossie lived with her sister Clorinda on Long Island. I might try
to contact someone from the family. Not sure what their names are
and not sure how to trace it though.

Notes for EMMA EDNA CROUSER:
I meant to tell you that there was one Crouser family story.
